So you are thinking of working at Sweet & Earthy.
Have you asked yourself? What’s it like to work at Sweet & Earthy and what am I getting myself into?
Glad you’ve asked.
We’ve put together some helpful Questions and Answers to help you in deciding if Sweet & Earthy is the right fit for you.

What qualities are Sweet & Earthy looking for in an employee?

We are looking for honesty, trustworthy, happy, friendly, kind, hardworking, professional, accountable, team players with a can do, I got this attitude to join our team. If that doesn’t sound like you, you should probably look elsewhere.

What does the job entail?

Honestly, everything! We don’t have roles and responsibilities assigned to employees and you won’t be assigned to just one task. If there is something that has to be done, it’s everyone’s job to get it done. You will be cooking, baking, cleaning, dusting, sweeping, stocking, mopping, washing dishes, taking out the trash, putting away products, mixing, slicing, dicing, greeting, answering the phone, taking orders, basically anything and everything including windows. We don’t want you to be disillusioned

Is the job relaxing?

Nope. We are pretty busy for the most part, and when it is busy, it can be crazy busy. There are periods that it will be slow but there is no lack of work to be done. Fast paced & busy certainly describes most days at Sweet & Earthy.

What will my shift look like and is it flexible?

Flexibility is one of the key pillars we look for in employees. We ask for employees to be available during our operating hours. Some employees do have a more consistent schedule while for others it changes from week to week. We try to be as accommodating as possible but business needs usually dictate hours worked.

How does time off work?

We have 4 types of time off – Approved Paid, Un-Approved Paid, Approved Un-Paid, Un-Approved Un-Paid. Employees who work >40hrs and have been with the company for at least a year are eligible for Paid Time. Most Emplyees fall into our Un-Paid Time Off policy which states that employees are not compensated for hours they do not work. Employees are given a fixed amount of time that should not be exceeded and count towards both Approved and Un-Approved time. We do ask that time off in the first 90 days be limited. Swapping shifts is allowed but we do ask for employees to work that out on their own. We also ask that employees find coverage for days off or should you want to alter your shift for a particular day. Two week notice is required for all time off.

What will my new hire training be like?

Have you heard the term "baptism by fire"? We take a hands on, on the job training approach. Day 1 you’ll be hands on and participating. We’ll walk you through things, but we believe the best way to learn is by doing. We’ll coach, teach and train along the way but we are jumping in with both feet from the start.

What about the money $$$?

You will be paid an hourly rate plus tips. Your hourly rate will be directly deposited into your checking account each Friday. Tips are paid in cash each Friday as well. Taxes will be withheld from your hourly wages. It will be your responsibility to report and pay taxes at a state and federal level on any Tips earned.

What if I start and then I don’t like the job, or I am not the right fit?

We consider the first 60 days of employment a probationary period…for both you and us. This 60-day period allows both you and us to see whether or not it’s a good fit and if not, part company as friends. We do ask that if you do make the decision to part ways you provide us with adequate notice. Same day is not adequate notice, we would ask for 2 weeks.

Do you offer an employee discount on food?

More about this in our Employee Handbook but in short, Yes, 40% but only for you & only while you are working.

Do you have a code of conduct?

Yes. If you are concerned about anything specific, we can provide beforehand, otherwise it will be provided to you when you receive your Employee Handbook.

Do I have to wear a uniform?

Currently we do not require uniforms, but that doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. For now, we are casual. Not sloppy. Jeans, leggings, t-shirts are all fine. Shoes are important - comfortable closed toe shoes. Hair needs to up or covered. Also, we think modesty is always in fashion and immodesty is always out of fashion and we always want to be in fashion.

What else should I be aware of?

We will ask you to consent to two (2) non disclosures. One for customer information and one for business information. Basically, we’ll ask you not to share customer or our information with anyone.
